The best thing a freelancer can do is to promote his services on his websites and blogs. They can treat clients a little different (some clients are plain stupid) and they can pay you first on Stripe and then they can see the final products or services when freelancers are done. Practically, on long terms they are only winning from this. Fiverr can get 20% because of the work the freelancers are selling there but that is only for a short time. Being a smart freelancer will make that time shorter and shorter.
